SALE OF TOWN LANDS.—COMPENSATION FOR IMPROVEMENTS.
We recal attention to the regulations for tbe sale of Town Lands in Hokitikn, which were published in our issue of the 24th nit. It will be seen by reference to them, that the sections not included in the block hounded by Fitzgerald, Fit'/lierhert, and Hampden streets, are to be put up to auction at an upset price of £48 ncr acre. The buildings and improvements on these sections are to be valued, and the value added to theSipset price. In order to ascertain who are the persons entitled to cla v un compensation as the owners of improvements, it is ©rdered that the claimant shall, on the day of sale, produce a certificate showing him to he the lawful holder of the section, or part of section, on which such improvements exist. Wo quote the following clause of the regulations as of immediate interest to many persona: — " All persons who claim to be the owners of improvements on any sections to be offered for sale must, on or before the Tenth day ov March, apply at the Mining Registrar's office for a certificate of registration of their sections or parts of sections." The tenth day of March will be to-morrow. Mr M'llaffie has intimated that he is prepared to take the necessary stepsou behalf of persons applying to him, to protect their rights to compensation, and the nfatter is one of so much importance to many that we feel justified in thus prominently referring to his advertisement.
