Tho Queen is much affected at King Leopold's death, and is passing a quiet Christmas at Osborno. Tho Princess Helena, aged 20, is to be married in February to Princo Christian of Schleswig-Holstein, aged 34, younger brother to that unhappy Augustenburg who vainly claims^to be Sovereign of tho troublesome Duchies. To this marriage her Majesty in Council on tho sth instant gave consent, and signified the samo under tho great seal. Tho bridegroom has been visiting at Windsor this month, but has now returned to his duties as a Major in tho Prussian army; ho is alike without fame or fortune, and not being burdened with principalities or powers, ho will reside permanently at Frogmoro, and the Queen bo thus spared a separation from another of her daughters. The Princess Royal and family have returned to Prussia; tho Princess Alice and family to Hesse. Tho Pyiucc and Princess of Wales, after visiting tho nobility, are enjoying the quiet of Saudringham; and if Her Majesty carries out her royal intentions respecting public life aud gaiety, their royal highnesses will happily be relieved from the cares of State, which to folks so young must latterly have been irksome. Tho Princo and his brother Arthur attended the funeral ceremonies at Brussels, and tho Kiug of Portugal returned with them to pay his respects at Osborne. Queen Emma of the Sandwich Islands has left England ior the warmer climate of Hyeres, in tho south of Franco. Lord Wodehouso is said to be about leaving Ireland, to be succeeded by Earl de Grey. — Correspondent of " Daiy Times."
Tho Bishop of London lias obtained a return, by order of tho Houso of Lords, of tbo cliaritios in tho cities of London and Westminster. Tho parochial charities in tho city of London amount to £01,500 18s. lid., and iv Westminster to £26,555 17s. Id.
Tho celebrated Captain Manry has been rotaincd in tho sorvico of tho Empovov of Moxico. His first duty will bo to survey tho lands sot apart for tho emigrants.
