The same may bo said of all staple goods, quotations being unchanged. No auction sales of any importance have taken place. — Feb. 14. Business still keeps quiet, and, as usual for tho day or two about mail timo, no transactions of any importance aro taking placo. — Feb. 15.

Looking at the past week's tranactions tliero is very little to note ; all branches of business hare felt the prevailing quiotudo which tho departure of tho homo mails has rather added to. Whatlittlo of activity has been apparent, has been chieily amongst second houses, iv tho' oxecution of a fow country aud export orders. In tho flour market nothing hns been done to any extent, tho stock is gradually decreasing, and except arrivals from South America tako place, will speedily become small. Thoro has been _no change in valuo, Chilian being still quoted at £20 to £21 ; and South Australian at £27 to £28. Teas and sugars havo not attracted any attention. A few parcels of mult liqnors hare changod hands, and tho stock of first-class bulk ales has becomo reduced to moderate proportions ; ales in bottles have not been much dealt in, but in stouts in glass, a fair trade has continued. Oilmon's stores, owing to the diminished shipments lately to hiyid, are now in good inquiry, piokles, salad oils, aud white starch in particular. — Olago Daily Times; February 19th.

Sales of Victoriau wheat aro reported to day at 7s. 3d. to 7a. 9d., according to quality. Tho balance of tho Japan's cargo ofCaliforniau, about 8000 bushels, is likewise said to havo been cleared off on private terms at a figure supposed to bo somewhat undor Bs. In teas wo note enquiries for good common to medium congous nt from Is. 4d. to Is. 6d. bond prices ; and in expectation of tho duties boing shortly reduced, thero is less repugnance evinoed to operate in teas in bond. , Martell's brandy in quarter casks has been placed at 7s. Tho clearances of gold effeoted at tho Customs during the week amounted to 19 oz. The total quantity exported since the beginning of the year has been 162,160 oz., of which 45,579 oz. wore transshipments from Now Zealand. Tho total exports during the corresponding period of last year amounted to 170.489 o/.., of which 21,620 oz. wero tho produce of Now Zculaucl goldficlds.
