Brigantine—Jane Lockhart Schooners-Caroline, Meteor, Mutilda/Erauia, TUisai, John Mitchell, lona, Kate, Lady Darling. Cutter —Lapwing. Steamers—Yarr.i, Lioness Th» Clmllengo, steam tug, commenced work yesterday, by bringing in tho Lady Darling, from theroadstead. Shosteained out and in in good style, and seeme to bo well adapted for t he trade. Aftor conveying Jior chargo in safety to tho wlmrf, she left for the Grey, to attond upon the Mary Anno, schooner,' which was waiting for her arrival in the roadstead. Yesterday tho Lioness arrived -from tho Grey, having again made a fair trip. Sho loft Hokitika nt 9 am. on Suudav last, uud arriTed alongside tho Grey wharf at noon. Here sho found tho brig Reliance, and schonere Vixon and Breezo ready for sea, bo chcT fastened to them one after the othe^ nnd towed them over tho bar, returning again to tho .river for the night. Tho next morning she got steam up, and at 11 a.m., with tho Lapwing in tow, crossed the bar, and reached Hokitika wharf at 2 p.m. The three-masted schooner Jmdy Darling cleared Port Philip Heads on tho 2nd instant, with easterly winds and fine weatbor. On her getting fairly into tho Straits, tho breezo increased, which determined tho captain to run to tho south of Tasmania, trusting ho would tho sooner fall in with a westerly wind, to carry him clenr of the lund. In* this, however, ho was mistaken, for until tho 10th a succession of easterly gales was experienced, and it was not until tho day after that they took their final departure. Honco to New Zealand, which was sighted on tho 17th, strong northerly winds,«»nd a heavy sea prevailed. Tho Lady Darling ennio to an anchor off Hokitika on tho 18th, and was towed to tho wharf the next day by tho Challenge, stdim tug. She brings v full general cargo to the port. This clipper schooner is ono of tho handsomest vessels wo have yet seen in the river, and is quite new, this being her lnuidon trip. Sho is a Gippa Land built craft, of 104 tons reghner, well and faithfully constructed of fh.' best description of colonial tiinbrr. Hor htn>'lh over all is 106 ft, width of beam 18ft., with 9ft 6 inches depth of hold. Her mr.del is a good ono, the linos being beautifully drawn," and from hoi appearanco we should say she is a remarkably fast vessel, as her 'entrance is lon{: and fine, and her run correspondingly clean. Our opinion is borne out by the Captain, who stales she is nn excellent sea boat, and a perfect " flyer" iv light winds, knocking offher five knots with case wiMi her upper canvns only drawing. We heartily welcome the Lntly D.irling, and trust a prosperous future is before her.
