IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE.

A meoting of tho Improvement Committee was hold at Braoken's Quoenstown Hotel on Thursday night last, tho following mombors being present— Mot ers Ecelosfiold, Parker, Cassms, Munvo, and Bonar. Mr Bouar being voted to tho chair, tho minutes of tho last meeting were road and confirmed. A letter was road from Mr Thomas Wobb, onolosing an application foi* tho office of Inspector of Nuisances, whioh was considered by tho Committee. Mr Brnokon moved and Mr Eicko seconded tho motion— That tho letter should bo roeoivod and that tho Committee 'recommend his application to tho" Government,

A lottor was road from Mr. Alcorn, requesting permission to oreot a balcony in front of his store. It was i^ioved and carried that Mr Alcorn should iiivnisli further partioulara respecting tho said erection. . . Mr EicK6 moved, and Mr Bracken secondod, tho following resolution— That ifc has become an absoluto necossity for tho Govornmont to adopt somo method by which cattlo arriving by sea can bo safoly landed, without risking tho lives and limbs of tho inhabitants, and that tho Commissioner bo at onco nommunioated with on tho subject. A lottor irom Mr Snlo was road, rospooting tho sito for a manure clopot, and- it was both movod and carried that Mr Rochfort's proposition that manuro should bo cartod diroot into tho river, should bo approved of.
