MEETING OF THE IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE.
A special mooting of the Improvement Committee was hold on Saturday night lust, at tho Quoonstown Hotel. Tho only business was to rccoivo tho Kop'ort of tho Bpooinl committeo appointed to inquiro into tho proposed ealo of town lands. Thoro wore prosont — Messrs Palmer (chairman), Brackon, Eoclosfluid, Clark, l'roascr, Roovoa, Anderson, and Munro. Tho committoo reported that tlioy had been unablo to got full information as to what \va9 to bo done, and ns to how tho town lands wore to bo disposod of. Thoy therefore suggested that a lottor, tho draft of which they had prepared, shonld.bo sont to tho Secretary of Public Works (Mr Hull) inquiring into tho whole mattor, and that then tho .question should bo furthor considered. Tho report, on tho motion oE Mr Brasken, seconded by Mr Anderson, was adopted, and tho following letter agreed to :—: — " To tho Sceretajy of Public Works 1 , Christchurch. •' Sio,,— l have tho honor to request that you. will furnish the Improvement Committee with a copy of tho reports of tho " Westland Town Allotments CoinmuVee," witli information as to tho way in which you piopose to carry out their recommendations as applied to tho allotments of Hokitikit. • " The Committee respectfully recommend that tho valuations of tho buildings should bo made at least ono month before the sale takes pl'iee, such valuation to bo made by two valuators, ono on buhnlf of tho Government and th a other fov the public, " Tho Committee also suggese that, in order to prevent dissatisfaction among those seclumholdors who have (aken up thoir allotments sinco tho .survey-map has been completed (hat a, re-survey should take place" (Signed on behalf of tho committee by tho Chairman.) • This letter was, as. before state 1, ngro3d to, and the mcc iug then broke up.
