The Melbourne /Ige of tho 13th instant reports :—: — Transactions in the import market have been somewhat limited, the most noticeable feature having been the complete absence of any disposition amongst traders to purchase beyond the supply of immediate requirements, the amount of business disposed oi has, therefore, been inconsiderable. In bulk ales we notice a slightly improved demand. Bass' No. 3 has been sold in fair parcels afc £(5 os. per hogs-head, duty paid, the Carlisle Company's having been quitted afc £6 15s. per hogshead. For bottled stout there has been a good inquiry, and sales of Machen's have been eflccted af. 10s. 9:1. per dozen ; a shipment of I»3 ass's, to arrive, having been placed afc 10s. per dozen. Stewart's Kirkliston whiskey has realised Bs. 9<J. lo 9s. per case, in good-sized parcels. In brandies, although for Martell'schirk t'lere is not much demand, MarteU's pale, in quantities, is much wauled ; and we hear that as much as 7s (id per gallon has been obtained for oi O or two bin till sliipinun's. In leas, little cf inleresf can bo roportod. A small lot offmS.O. pokoo has brought 2s 4,1 per lb, dv y paid. For sugars, there has been a fair inquiry, and sales of medium to good counters have been made at prices slight iy in advance of recent quotations. In brcad*.t nil's a steady business has been done ; prices, however, are decidedly easier, and for boot brands of Adelaide flour £21 per ton has been accepted. Chilian wheat ha-> been >n\d at 9s per bushel, net ensh, while 9s 3d per bu>hel, bhorl terms!, has likewise been paid. By telegram from Adelaide wo learn lh.it new wheat has (here been sold al 8s per Imsliel. !M«ll continues in good demand, and a consignment of 30 tanks has been placed tit 10s S)d per bu.shcl. ilaizc has commanded more attention, and s lies were made earl} in the day at fo SUI per bushel ; later, however, tliero were no hellers under 05 (id per bushel. Oats are firm at 5s 6d per bushel. In rice no sales of any consequence have taken place.
