IMPORTANT FROM CHILI.
THREATENED DISRUPTION WITH SPAIN.
SUSPENSION OP MARITIME TRAFFIC,
(From the'" Southern Cross.") By the arrival last evening of the Orita, Captain Schroeder, from Valparaiso, we have intelligence of a painful nature, portending the outbreak of a fierce rebellion in Chili, owing to a difference between the Spanish and Chilian Governments. The day before tho sailing of the Orita, one of the Pacific Steam Navigation Company's steamers, the Inca, arrived at Sant Jago, from Callao, bringing intelligence of the recall of the Spanish Ambassador and the despatch of six or seven iron-clad vessels to Chili. The Inca had been specially chartered by the Chilian Ambassador in Peru in order to anticipate the usual mail service by two days. The cause of this sudden renewal of hostilities is attributed to the recent unsatisfactory relations between the two Governments, and the desire of the Spanish Government to create rebellion. The feeling in Chili was very strongly expressed against tho Spanish residents there, which arose from the fact that they had signed and despatched a protest tp Madrid against the action of their Minister, who had sought to reconcilo the two Governments in a manner which they considered a disgrace to the Spanish Government. One of the Spanish frigates had arrived at Callairo, to the north of Valparaiso, and was coaling when tho steamer put in there. It was expected that the ports would bo blockaded, and coasting vessels had received orders to lay up or trade only in unfrequented waters. One of the Chilian steamers which had been advertised to make a trip to Fernandez was stopped, in consequence of tho receipt of tho news, and great anxiety was felt for the safoty of the vessel, and fears of a disturbance were gravely entertained. Chilian men-of-war were preparing for any emergency, and the troops were being sent to various parts for better protection in the case of any attack,
The popular opinion was that if the Chilian Government settled the disturbance in compliance with tho wish of the Spanish Government, a revolution would ensue.
We learn from tho agents, that tho steamship Omeo, will not again put to sea until she has been fitted in Molbourno with new and powerfull enginos ; and, that the Alhambra, on lior next trip will proceed direofc to tho Bluff and Duneilin, calling here on her way north, from the latter port, The Molbourno steamers now to bo looked for arc tlie Gothenburg and tho Souchays. . In consequence of tho unsettled state of tho weather on Saturday last, tbo Brass Band wore prevented from playing on tho spit as announced.
