Injured Fencer Lay Helpless For More Than Six Hours In Paddock
TAIHAPE, Last Night (OC).~ Struck by a large strainer post as it fell Mr. George James, married, of Kiwi Road, Taihape. suffered a fractured pelvis and was admitted to - the Taihape Hospital. - The accident occurred on Mr. kjo • Bell’s property, Rangiwaea, near; Taihape. where Mr. James was tern- 1 porarily’ employed as a fencer. lie , was carrying the post up the hill | when he tripped and fell and the post struck him across the thighs in its fall, causing the injury indicated. Lying in a paddock, helpless and in great pain for more I han six houis. from 12.30 to 7 p.m., Mr. James was not missed until he failed to appear for the evening men’ and a search was begun. Eventually, he was able to stand up and was thus discovered by Mr Dick Bell. An improvised stretcher was used to carry Mr. James to Mr. Rio Bell’s homestead, the task bei'ng performed by six shearers. The i'njured m. i was conveyed 1o hospital in an ambulance. His condition today is described as satisfactory.
