London Guild To Offer Scholarship To N.Z.

LONDON, Dec. 16.—The Hon. L. W. Joynson-Hicks, M.P., Master of the Worshipful Company of Girdlers, told New Zealanders who attended a tea party given by the company at the Vintners Hall to celebrate the Canterbury centennial that plans were being made to offer a biennial scholarship to New Zealand schoolboys. Mr Joyn-son-Hicks said the Company of Girdlers planned that the scholarship would be for £5OO annually to a British university. It would be on the lines of the Rhodes scholarship, but no final pl.-f’s had yet been made.
