MR. VYSHINSKY AGREES THAT WAR IS NOT INEVITABLE
NEW YORK, Dec 16 (Recd G pm).— Before sailing on the French liner' Liberte today, the Soviet Foreign! Minister (Mr. Andrew Vyshinsky) said he agreed with Mr Trufrian on one point—that war was no: inevitable. “Our position on that is known,” he added. “Of course it depends on the people of the world. Only those who want to make profits or who want world domination want io make war. In my view these people are not quilo normal.’’ Mi-. Vyshinsky first told reporters he slept through Mr. Truman's speech last nigh'. Later he amended his remark to say that he was “busy” at the time’ of the speech. .Mr Vyshinsky, before boarding the liner read a formal statement in which he wished the American people "peace, wellbeing and happiness in the coming New Year.”
