BUDGE DEFEATS PARKER IN STRAIGHT SETS IN AUCKLAND EXHIBITIONS

AUCKLAND, Last Night (PA).— Donald Budge defeated Frank Parker in straight sets and Richard Gonzales was leading Dinny Pails 10-9 in the first set when rain forced the abandonment of play in the professional exhibition lawn tennis matches in Auckland yesterday. Budge used his backhand with great effect and passed Parker brilliantly on many occasions with the stroke. Budge took the first set for the loss of only one game and won the second 7-5 after being down 4-1. Gonzales made a good recovery against Pails. Both "used very telling services. The doubles will be played tomorrow.
