SEAMAN DROWNED OFF CAPE RODNEY

AUCKLAND, Last Night (P.A.).— A member of the crew of the Union Steam Ship Company’s Karepo was drowned when he fell from the ship off Cape Rodney. He was: Mr. Murdoch Mac Neil, seaman, of Victoria Street, Auckland. When Mac Neil was missed a R.N.Z.A.F. aircraft left Whenuapai to search for him. His body was later picked up by a lifeboat from the Karepo. The plane which assisted in the search was piloted by Flight Lieutenant D. L. Clow, D..F.C., and navigated by Flying Officer J. .G. Scott. The Karepo left Auckland for Westport at 8.45 o’clock yesterday mornng.
