TWILIGHT SPORTS Keen eompetiiton was a feature of the twilight sports meeting held on the Domain on Thursday evening under the auspices of he T a i’hape Amateur Athletic Club. There were ten starters in both the half-mile handicap and women's 100yds and five heats in the men's 220yds. handicap. D. M. Harris, the Olympic runner, was a competitor in the latter event and finished third. He and Clem Parker, N.Z. 100yds. champion, will be competing in the inter-club sports meeting at Taihape on Saturday, December 9, for the Glasart Cup. The twilight sports afforded local athletes an opportunity of getting into form before the big meeting next week, and some good performances were recorded. Results:—• Senior half-mile handicap, R. A concert by the pupils of Mrs Hayes, assisted by the dancing pupils of Mrs Macßae and Mr J. Dick, will be held in the Town Hall, Taihape, on Wednesday next. The programme will comprise music, dancing and plays. LICENSING SITTING POSTPONED. The quarterly sitting of the Waimarino Licensing Committee, which was to have been held at Taihape yesterday, has been postponed for a fortnight. GENERAL NEWS. Arrangements are in hand for a bowling match between the Workingmen’s Club, Taihape, and the St. John’s Club, Wanganui. It is hoped to play the fixture at Taihape on December 17.
