GUN DOG CLUB HOLDS FIELD TRIALS
A successful trial was held on Mr F. Allison’s property recently by the Wanganui Gun Dog Club. Mr H. Saunders, of Calgary, Canada, judge of the dog sections at the Wanganui show, was a guest of the club. Mr Saunders said he considered the New Zealand system of conducting fielc. trials as very good and was well organised. He thought the performance of the Labradors in the retrieving championship was well up to standard. Results were as follows: Retriever, championship: Mr A. H. Lawson’s Labrador, Manakau Hunter, 176 points; Mr L'. W. Young’s yellow Labrador, Woodleigh Bounce, 173 points; Mr A. Atkinson’s Labrador. Glamour of Green Acres, and Robbie and Izard’s Labrador, Dual Ch, Durley Beech Twig, equal, 3. Land section: Mr. A. H. Lawson’s Manakau Hunter, 87 points, 1; Mr L. W. Young's Woodleigh Bounce, 82 points, 2. Water section: Mr A. Atkinson's Glamour of Green Acres, 93 poZts, 1: Mr ft W. Young’s Woodleigh Bounce and Mr W. Urquhart's Princess Hargay, equal 2. Sixteen entries. . Dual purpose trophy: Robbie and Izard’s Dual Ch Durlev Beech Twig, 253 points, 1; L. W. Young’s Woodleieh Bounce. 251 points, 2. Pointer and setter championship: Mr D. Robin's Belvedere Bess, 84 -oints, 1- Mr W. Butler’s Duke of Tawhero, 75 points 2; Mr and Mrs J. H n. Lihnel’s Highdown Lester, 68 points 3. Novice (land): Mr E. R.
