Waitotara Girl Guides’ First Birthday
The first birthday of the Waitotara Girl Guide Company was happily celebrated with a tea party on November 9, when there was an attendance ot 62 including Girl Guide officials from Wanganui, who motored to Waitotara for the celebration. Several apologies were received. Toasts honoured were The King, proposed by Mrs I. D. Parsons (president), Lady Baden Powell, proposed by Miss Thomasen (Lieut.); visitors proposed by Mr Thomasen and responded to by Mr Richardson (chairman of Scouts Committee); Scouts, proposed by Miss Warner (captfy. > and responded to by. Mr Luff (Scoutmaster); Waitotara Girl Guides, proposed by Miss E. Brown (Wanganui) and responded to by Mrs E. Brown (Wanganui) and responded to by Mrs Parsons; captain and lieutenant, proposed by Mrs. Parsons and responded to by Miss Warner. Awards were won as follows: —
Champion patrol, points shield: Kuku Patrol. Attendance shield: Shining Cuckoo Patrol. First year stars: Lynette Hurley, Judith Parsons, Beverley Hurley, Mary Travis. Barbara Campbell, Marjory McKnight, Olive Hooper. Shirley Lockett, Myra Barry, Maud Ti\veka. First Year Certificates (special merit): Lynette Hurley, Beverley Hurley, Judith Parsons.
