Misuse Of Radio Is Alleged By N.Z. Methodist Conference

DUNEDIN, Nov. 10 (PA).—Resolu tions passed by the Methodist conference draw attention to considered misuses of radio broadcasting in this country. The resolutions carried i’n regard to racing broadcasts were: (1) “That this conference is definitely of the opinion that the use of radio for giving the results of races, and especially the dividends paid, is a misuse of a public utility tn* I is detrimental to the morals of our people. The conference refers this matter to the Public Questions Committee for attention. (2) “That the Public Questions Committee approach the Minister of Broadcasting (Mr. Doidge) asking for a reduction in the number of stations broadcasting race commentaries, results and dividends.” The resolution passed drawing attention to the considered misuse of (ho radio in religious broadcasting read: “That this an'nual conference endorse the pro'esis that have* beer, submitted to the churches’ Religious Advisory Committee from many quarters against the misuse of the radio in religious broadcasting in the dissemination of certain doctrines that are offensive to the great majority of listeners.”
