K Force Man Fined For Car Conversion
TAIHAPE Last Night (PA). A member of K Force, John Henry Howell Deed, single, aged 27. pleaded guilty in the Taihape Magistrate’s Court to a charge of car conversion. He was convicted and fined £2O. and ordered Io pay £6O for the cost of repairs Io lhe car. Evidence was that Deed look a car belonging to a fellow soldier from the Waiouru camp private car park, and drove it to Auckland. While in Auckland he saw the car owner, who had been transferred Io Papakura, and informed him that he had his ear. which was in an Auckland garage for minor repairs. He promised to drive lhe car back to Waiouru, and asked the owner not to report the matter to the police. Deed then drove to lhe Bay of Plenty and on to Napier, whore the car developed a fault and he abandoned it. He was arrested in Napier and remanded to Taihape.
