Big Industrial Exhibition For Wanganui Urged
“I see no reason why we cannot repeat the success that the City of Hamilton had last year, when it staged its very fine New Zealand Industrial Exhibition," said Mr A. C. Seivewright, Citizens candidate for the Wanganui Mayoralty, addressing electors at Keith Street.
"The exhibition attracted thousands of people to Hamilton and brought manufacturers from all over New Zealand to that city with their exhibits,” said Mr. Seivewright.
“When J was out visiting one of Wanganui’s largest wool stores, the thought struck me that here was the place to hold such an exhibition, and I find that certain periods of the year this large store is practically empty of wool and could be used for the puipose I suggest. “Every city needs advertising anu one of the finest ways we can do it would be an industrial exhibition. This would bring thousands of people to the city from the country district.; it woula be a big boost for the city, create spending power for all sections of the community and in every way be a very fine tdvcitisement for Wanganui. “We do not have many atti actions in Wanganui throughout the year and the staging of an industrial exhibition would be something new and would appeal to everyone both from an educallonal angle and amusement, too.’’
