First Consignment Of U.S. Aid For Indo-China

SAIGON, Out. 29. The French aircraft carrier Dixmude steamed up ihe Saigon river today carrying 40 Ameri-can-built fighters for use against Vietminh rebels in Northern Tonking. The carrier also brought many tons of bombs, ammunition and spare parts from the United States. French sources said this first consignment of American military aid will be of immediate value against the rebels. The French were short of all types of planes.—Reuter.
