New Coalition Cabinet Set Up In Israel

JERUSALEM Oct. 30 (Recd. 7pm). —A new Israel coalition Government was formed last night, ending the Jewish State’s two weeks’ Cabinet crisis. The former Prime Minister, Mr. Ben Gurion’s, the Labour Party and the orthodox religious bloc reached agreement and, in a joint statement, said they would support the new coalition Government until January, 1953, when the elections will be held. Mr Ben Gurion’s Cabinet resigned on October 15. The religious bloc—the second strongest Cabinet partner—withdrew its support in a dispute over the allocation of a new economic Ministry. The agreement last night is a compromise on several controversial issues, which observers considered a victory for the Prime Minister. The new Cabinet of 13 will be the same composition as the former 12-man Cabinet, with the addition of one nonpartisan member. It will include seven Labour and three orthodox Ministers.—Reuter.
