Plans For Single High Command Of All Allied Forces In Germany

LONDON, Oct. 28.—Plans for a single high command for all Allied forces in West Germany are nearly complete, French military sources in Frankfurt said tonight. They said it would probably be set up within the next few months. American army authorities would not confirm or deny the report, but an officer at the British Rhine army headquarters said a unified high command is likely to be discussed by Atlantic Pact Defence Ministers meeting at Washington today. French sources also said a French battalion was being moved to Ulm, in the American zone. That would be the forerunner to a big reshuffle of Western Allied forces in Germany.

According to French authorities, troops of the three Allied Powers will be organised into combat teams. France, which has three divisions in Germany, plans to double that strength.
