NO-REMITTANCE SCHEME HELPING TO OVERCOME ACUTE CAR SHORTAGE

So many British cars are being imported into New Zealand under the no-remittance licence scheme that dealers consider they soon will be able to close the gap between supply and demand, said a motor trade representative yesterday. This year imports through the use of overseas sterling funds would almost equal imports through the normal trade channels. With (he increased orders from New Zealand and other countries within the Commonwealth, one large British combine has announced that it will not be able to cope with further 1U h.p. cars until 1952, he stated. Now built in England, new models of the French Citroen are at. present on their way to New Zealand.
