OBITUARY
Mrs. Henrietta Piper The death occurred suddenly on Tuesday at her home in Heads Road, Gonville, of Mrs. Henrietta Piper, wife of Mr. C. A. Piper. She was an active worker for worthy causes in the city and had served on the committees of a number of women’s organisations. One of the early vice-presidents of the Wanganui branch of the League of Mothers, Mrs. Piper had attended the 15th. birthday meeting of the branch on the day of her death and with other inaugural members received a gift cf flowers in recognition of her services. She was an associate member of the National Council of Women and for some years took part in the activities of Wesley Church, Gonville. An organisation dear to Mrs Piper’s heart was the Mothers’ Helpers’ Society, of which she was a com mittee member from its founding in 1938. When the Town and Country Residential Nursery Association came into being three years ago, Mrs. Pipei went on to its committee as an executive member from the Mothers’ Helpers ’Society, six of whom combined with six women from the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers to constitute its executive. Recently her main interest, centred on the newly-formed women's auxiliary of the Crippled Children Society, on which she represented the Mothers’ Helpers ’Society, her sympathies being very much with any movement which cared for small children. Mrs. Piper is survived by her husband and a family of three daughters and a son—Mesdames W. Paterson (Wellington), E. Brown (Taoroa Taihape), and R. Howarth (Wellington), and Mr. John Piper, of Wanganui
