SIGNIFY FAVOURED IN BUCHANAN MEMORIAL AT BANKS PENINSULA

Considerable North Island interest will centre on the Buchanan Memotrial. principal event today at the ( Banks Peninsula Racing Club s meeting, because several New Zealand Cup candidates are engaged, including Calibrate and Signify. Included in the field for the Le Bons Handicap, run over seven furlongs, are some claiming Stewards’ Handicap engagements. As this will be their final appearance in public before the big test next Saturday it will be interesting to see how they fare. Large fields are engaged throughout, and it would appear that the club might have been well advised to drop the light-harness events and divide the surplus fields to form separate races to fill the programme.
