When aoout a length in front Rural Gold moved over and Messervy had to check Poetical to avoid getting on the heels of Rural Gold. An inquiry was hold into alleged interference near the winning post, by Royal Man, the winner, affecting An- ■ ■ ong who went over on to Pheroz Girl. iie committee found that there was interference to Pheroz Girl, but that if was of a minor nature and had nn effect on the result of the race and did not warrant action against any rider.
REHANDICAPS DECT.ARED Rehnndicaps for the first day of the C..T.C. meeting have been declared as follow: New Zealand Cup: Akbar, 41b to 8.2; Signify, 51b to 8.0. Stewards’ Handicap: Lord Moss, 71b to 9.3; Diana Reynard, 31b to 9.1; Duvaals. 101 b to 8.3. Previously Renowned had been rehandicapped to 8.2 in the New Zealand Cup and Ballochmyle to 10.2 in the Stewards’ Handicap. The other events on the first day are the New Zealand Derby (£3000) I and the Welcome Stakes (£1500).
