Black Watch Band To Tour Dominion Early Next Year

LONDON, Oct. 17 (Recd. 11.30 p.m.)—J. C. Williamson Theatres announced today that Britain’s famous Black Watch Band will tour New Zealand and Australia early in 1951 on the invitation of the Prime Ministers (Messrs. Holland and Menzies). The band will spend six weeks in New Zealand. The Black Watch, formed in 1739, is the oldest Royal Highland Regiment The present band consists of 42 instrumentalists and four pipers. It is now serving with the British Army of Occupation on the Rhine. The War Office has granted it leave from Germany.
