WANGANUI ARCHERY CLUB’S OPENING DAY
The Wanganui Archery Club held a very successful opening day on Saturday afternoon. Mr. E. S. Hughes, patron of the club, fired the first arrow and declared the outdoor season officially open. The club hopes to start practising as soon as possible for the provincial championships, also to start shooting for a cup donated by Mrs. J. Dunlop, Aramoho (vice-president) and a trophy valued' at £l, donated bv Mr C. N. Hughes. The details of the scoring on Saturday are as follows: M. Armour men's 30 yards, 133 points; Miss H Ellis, ladies’ 30 yards, 104 points; m' Armour, men’s 40 yards, 93 noints' Mrs. Attwood, ladies' 40 yards, 59 points; M. Armour men's 50 yards 74 points; Mrs. Ellis, ladies’ 50 vards.’ 51 points; M. Armour, men’s 80 yards. 31 points; Mrs. Attwood, ladies’ 80 yards, 19 points: I. Ellis, men’s clout shoot, 50 points; Mrs. Attwood, lad'es’ clout shoot, 37 points. M. Armour jmen’s highest aggregate, 362 points;’ v\ . R. Jackson, men’s runner-up 327 aggregate, 2-17 points; Mrs. Caudwell, I points; Mrs. Attwood, ladies’ highest l ladies’ runner-up, 231 points.
