Jackie Hughes Gets Lucky Points Decision Over Clem Sands

DUNEDIN, Last Night (PA).— Jackie Hughes, Dunedin, list. 3ilb., gained a somewhat lucky points deci-1 sion over Clem Sands, Sydney, list, in! a professional middleweight boxing contest before a large crowd in the Town Hall tonight. Hughes was down for a count of eight in the fifth round, but this followed a melee in mid-ring when Sands' accidentally struck his opponent low: with his knee. There was not much action or deci-1 sive work during the first six rounds | hut things warmed up over the last' five rounds, during which there were some punishing exchanges. Sands finished much more strongly of the pair, but the decision in favour of Hughes was well enough received, though it might easily have gone the other way.
