Power Position In Wanganui Is Not Better
"The position is getting no better,” said the secretary, Mr. G. A. Ammundsen, when reporting on electricity rationing to the monthly meeting of the Wanganui-Rangitikei ElectricPower Board. He said that due to the unusually low rainfall in the Taupo catchment area the 10 per cent, cut in quotas to boards, which was expected to be of shore duration when imposed at the beginning of April, was still here and was likely to remain for at least the next three months. At present there was ro reason to be optimistic about the cut being lifted, he added. "To bring consumption in the district within the quota will mean an even more strict enforcement of consumer rationing, and in some districts this may be done most effectively by periods of blackout, rather than by disconnecting individual services. "In expectation of a lifting of the special restriction this board has been a little more lenient in its rationing enforcement than have been some others, but this just cannot continue now. "Our future until March 31, 1951, has already been mortgaged to the extent of two million units.’’
