Liner Athenic Picked Storm-Bound Passengers From Pitcairn Island
WELLINGTON, Yesterday (PAI.— The Athenic, which arrived al Wellington yesterday, was lucky to narrowly mis; a hurricane as she passed the West Indies on the way to Panama, said the commander, Captain B. Forbes-Moffat. Loss fortunate was the schooner Iluia, which was in Bounty Bay, Pitcairn, when the Athenic called there, .‘•he had spent eight days of a 16-day voyage there from Tahiti helpless in a Pacific storm. Dr. A. Doran and Sister M. T. O’Keefe, who were passengers in the Iluia, came to Wellington in the Athenic. Dr. Doran will fly to end Sister O’Keefe, who hrs a two-year duty at the Suva hospital, will return to her home town, Dannevirke.
