R.A.F. OFFICERS TO PAY SPECIAL MISSION TO NEW ZEALAND
WELLINGTON. Last Night (PA‘— A party of Royal Air Force officers will visit New Zealand this month to discuss various aspects of flying and operational training with senior RN.Z.A.F. officers and officers on air stations. The Air Force statement announcing this says the visit is timeIv in view of the intention to re-eaulp the R.N.Z.A.F. with new aircraft The party, consisting of members of the directing staff of the R.A.F. Flying College. Manby. and officers attending the college, will flv from England in a Handley Page Hastings transport—one of th? types to be obtained by the R.N.Z.A.F.—and will travel via. Australia, where similar talks will ne held with the Royal Australian Air Force. The aircraft will arrive at Ohakea from Mascot on October 25. Visits will be made to R.N.Z.A.F. stations, Ohakea. Wieram. Whenuana! and the parti* will leav? Ohakea for Laverton on November 1. The Hrs’ings will carry its own ground staff, who will service the aircraft throughout the tour. The d:scussions are expected to centre around the operation of Hastings and Bristol freighter airera r t, and the latest techniques of operating DH Vampire jet fighters in the ground attack role.
