Former N.Z. Gelding, Great Trek, Is Sold For 2100 Gns.
SYDNEY”, Oct. 6 (Recd. 11.30pm). The former New Zealand gelding Great Trek whs sold at auction today for 2100gns. The buyer was the Melbourne trainer Steve Murphy. Bidding started at lOOOgns and quickly soared in 50-guinea bids. Great Trek is engaged in 'the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups and the
Cantala Stakese. Since his arrival from New Zealand Great. Trek had proved a costly proposition for his former owners, A. J. and W. Tancred. Sixteen two-year-olds offered on behalf of the estate of the late F. W. I-lughese were sold for an aggregate of 4695gn5, an average of 310gns.
