New Pay Rates For Australian Army

CANBEKAA, Sept 22 (Recd 10.35 p.m.).—ln a nationwide broadcast the Prime Minister (Mr Menzies) announced the following new weekly pay rates for the army Unmarried recruit linden 21, to £1 18s living in or £7 Is 9d living out. Married recruit, £7 IDs 3d, whether living in or out. An adult recruit will, in the same order, be paid £5 13s 9d, £7 17s (id and £8 15s. An ordinary unmarried sergeant be paid £!) Ills fill Jiving in, and £l2 3s 3d living out, and if married £l3 (Is 9d. A warrant officer in the Survey Corps will receive up to £l3 His GJ if single and living in, £l(5 0s 3d living out and £l6 17s 9d if married.
