Brown Shield Soccer Match In Wanganui Scheduled For Saturday

The feature soccer game in Wanganui on Saturday will be the representative match against Manawatu for the Brown Shield, which will be played on Cook’s Gardens. Last Saturday the local eleven gave a great exhibition in holding the redoutable Wellington side to a 1-all draw. The personnel of the Wanganui team is:—E. Gould; A Springer, K. Patterson; A. Kendrick, R. Hessell, N. Breed; A. Kidd, J. Kidd, G. Wellwood, J. Scott, J. Mutimer. Emergencies: G. Grasick, back; H. Findlay, forward. The game will start at 2.30 p.m. The reference will be Mr. D. Ross and the linesmen Messrs. *A. Thomson and R. Fowler.

The second round of the Charity Cup will be played on Victoria Park at 1 p.m. the draw for which is as follows:—Eastbrooke v Athletic, No. 1 ground, Mr. J. Thomson; Rangers v Technical College, No. 3, Mr. J. Meikle.

The Wanganui Football Association executive, meeting on Monday night, decided to invite the Settlers’ representative team, from Wellington, the same team that beat the Kiwis, to play a game here on October 14, preferably in the morning because that is the date of the second day o.f the Wanganui Trotting Club’s annual meeting. The association is seeking the use of Spriggons Park.
