CHELMSFORD STAKES VICTORY TO DELTA IN GRUELLING FINISH

SYDNEY, Sept. 10.—In a gruelling Chelmsford Stakes at Randwick the favourite San Domenico was beaten by the stayers Delta and Snowstream. San Domenico was kept well in until the top of the straight, where Snowstream was following closely. The favourite then went away until it appeared the race was over, but in the last 50 yards Snowstream again came into the picture. San Domenico was visibly slowing up and Delta, who had had few opportunities, came up to lake the verdict from Snowstream by the closest of margins. i In the Tramway Handicap the favourite, Rim Boy, pulled early and went to the front. Humming Top stayed handy and then moved up to igo away over the last furlong. Denali, who finished fifth, did not get a clear run.
