TWO REPRESENTATIVE RUGBY MATCHES TO BE PLAYED AT MARTON
The Rugby season in Rangitikei virtually closes tomorrow with three representative matches, the seniors and juniors playing Wanganui and Taihape teams at Marton and the thirds playing Taihape at Taihape. Athletic, holders of the President’s Rose Bowl, has received a challenge from Rangatahi, winners of the Wai-nui-a-Rua senior competition. This gamp will be played in Marton, but as yet no definite date has been announced. although September 23 has been mentioned. Rep. fixtures and referees for tomorrow are:— Seniors: Rangitikei v. Wanganui, at Marton, 2.45 p.m., referee Mr J. Dickson. Juniors: Rangitikei v. Taihape. at Marton, 1.15 p.m., referee Mr J. Barry. Thirds: Rangitikei v. Taihape, *at Taihape. The only alteration so far announced in the Rangitikei senior team is the withdrawal of I. Barton from the list of emergencies. The replacement has not yet been named. Both the Rangitikei and Wanganui teams are to change at the Marton Hotel. Rangitikei players are to report at 2 p.m. to Mr Hen wood. The full-back. A. Thomson, due to an injury, is not available for the Rangitikei junior team. His position has been taken by his brother, G. Thomson (Old Boys). The Rangitikei and Taihape junior teams are to change at the White Hait Hotel, the Rangitikei team to report to Mr G. H. Stewart at 12.45 p.m. To date there have hee.t no changes in the Rangitikei third grads team to play at Taihape. The team, which leaves Marton at 9.30 a.m., is: B. Black; A. Palmer. D. Murray, K. Poppp; T. Knight. P. Whale; L. Kane; M. Burnette; D. Wasson, L. Dailey, L. Simpson, T. Ireland, N. Martyn. R. Hunter. G. Adams. Reserves: J. Smith. D. Weber, G. Ward (backs); W. Higginson, J. Craig (forwards).
