COMMITTEE SET UP TO INQUIRE INTO PRICE OF GAS

PARLIAMENT BLINGS., Last Night (PA).—The effect on the gas industry of the withdrawal of subsidies is to be investigated by a special committee, said the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr. Bowden) tonight. The committee is to hear evidence and representations from interested organisations and report its findings and recommendations to the Government. The chairman of committee is to be Mr. lan D. Reid, president of the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Accountants Association. Other members will be Mr. A. B. Taylor, finance officer and accountant in the Treasury Department, Mr. G. R. J. Hope, chief investigating and advisory officer of the Department of Industries and Commerce, Mr. 11. L. Wise. Director of Price Control and Mr. R. C. Adams, chief investigating engineer in the Ministry of Works.
