Mott made a n opening before passing to Akapita, who drew the defence before sending Wiari over unopposed. Scott missed with the kick.—Ohakune 3. Wanganui 0. According to Maori legend a warrior named Patea went on a hunting trip centuries ago to obtain food but when he returned to his wife in Hawke’s Bay he found her surrounded by “all sorts of nica things.’’ He was so jealous at the attentions paid to his wife during his absence that he slew her and fled inland from Hawkes Bay to what is now known as the Taihape district. Later he moved to what has since been named "Patea," near Wanganui. This explanation of how "Inland Patea" derived its name was given to the Taihape Rotary Club by Mr. R. A. Bjtley, during the course of an address on the coming of the Maori to "Inland Patea." He gave details of the old native tracks in the district and added that one track followed closely the present Taihape-Napier Road. House For Rabbit Inspector.
