Win For Wanganui Fourths Against Taihape Thirds

TAIHAPE, Yesterday (OC).—After a close game Wanganui fourth grade representatives defeated Taihape thirds by 6 points to nil in a match played o n No. 2 ground. Towards the end of the first spell T. Nixon, the Wanganui centre, scored a fine try for the visitors. Tn the second half, Phillipson, the Wanganui winger, who was frequently in the limelight, scored the visitors’ -econd try. The kick failed in each case. Nixon, Phillipson ana McDonald were the pick of the Wanganui backs, while Crawshaw and Doyle (hookers) were perhaps the best of the forwards. Mr. S. Browne was the referee. The teams were;

Wanganui: Robertson. Phillipson, T. Nixon, Boyd, Field, McDonald, McCoy, McKay, Dovle, Smith, Luff. Matthews, Wilson, Nixon, Crawshaw.

Taihape; Troon, McCarthy, Blake, Stodart. Marchioni, McSweenev, Peacock. Olsen, Bayne, Maher, Bardell, Tomlinson, Appleton, Brogden, Wincombe.

Stodart was hurt in the second spell, being replaced by Parkin. Peacock, McCarthy, Blake and Stodart were the pick of the backs. Olsen, Brogden and Tomlinson played well in the Taihape pack.
