AUSTRALIA BEATEN BY N.Z. IN BADMINTON TEST
HOBART, Sept 3 (Recd 6 pm)—ln a badminton test match for the Whyte Trophy New Zealand defeated Australia by 12 matches to four.
At the completion of the first night’s play New Zealand led by six games to two, and the concluding night saw a similar result.
In the doubles match Mesdames Street and Stark lost to Mrs. Savage and Miss Richman in three sets, after holding 11 match points in the second. In a singles match Mrs. Street was defeated by Miss Robert, despite a strong rally in the second set. Mrs. Potts had a hard struggle in the first two sets of her match with Miss Peacock. The New Zealander was definitely superior in the final set with accurate control and a beautiful back- ' hand. In his match against the Australian singles champion, Alan McCabe, the New’ Zealander. Jeff Robson, proved himself a better player and avenged the defeat he suffered at McCabe's hands in New Zealand last year.
