TAIHAPE NEWS COLD SPELL OF WEATHER, SNOW AT WAIOURU TAIHAPE. Last Night (OC).—A cold snap was experienced in the Taihape district on Friday. Snow fell at Waiouru and to a lesser extent at Hihitahi and other country districts. There was no snow at Taihape, but the cold, boisterous weather culminated in a sharp frost on Friday night. Butterfat Content of Ice Creams. Until just recently ice cream manufacturers have not been allowed to produce this delicacy with a greater butterfat content than 8.5 pe“ cent., but new regulations have just been gazetted abolishing this restriction. The regulation allowing for the use of vegetable fats i n ice cream r.as also been revoked. Prior to tne war a butterfat content of 10 ner cent, was required in the manufacture of Ice creams, hut when butter rationing came into effect, during the war the regulations were amended so as to provide for a minimum of 8 ner cent, and a maximum of 8.5 br.tt-rfat content. The use of vegetable fat was also allowed. The regulations just gazetted retain the rninimum of 3 per cent, butterfat tn ice creams, but abolish anv fixed maximum and also prohibit the use of vegetable fats. £5OO Art Union.
