Electric Iron Causes Fire In Auckland Shop

AUCKLAND, Last. Night (P.A.).— A fire, which started in a small storeroom under a stairway at the back of the basement floor at the shop of Woolworths (New Zealand) Ltd., in Queen Street this morning, damaged a quantity of children's and women’s clothing and general merchandise.. An electric iron connected to a light socket which was inadvertently turn"d on when some of the lights in the building wore switched on, caused the outbreak. The damage has not yet been estimated.
