Farewell To Presbyterian Minister

WAVERLEY, Last Night (OC).--About 200 members of the Waverley and district Presbyterian circuit, and many others from the Taranaki district, gathered together in St. Andrew’s Hall to farewell Rev. and Mrs M. G. Milmine on Wednesday evening.

The Interim Moderator, Rev. Smith, of Eltham, conducted the evening. Speaking on behalf of the Taranaki Presbytery, he wished Rev. and Mrs. Milmine God speed in their new charge in Auckland.

On behalf of the Waverley residents Mr. D. B. Hughes, chairman of the Town Board, spoke of Mr. Milmine's activities among the youth of the town, especially mentioning the keen interest he had’ taken in cricket. Mr. T. R. Wall, for the Church Session, referred to the wonderful cooperation they had had with Mr. Milmine and wished him success in the future. Speaking for the managers of the church, Mr D. Chamberlain wished Mr. and Mrs. Milmine all the best. He spoke of the large circuit of young people to which they were going, and the advantage his organising ability would be

Mr. Milmine had been responsible for the inception of the Boys’ and Girls' Life Brigades, and had been a keen leader of the Boys’ Brigade. This was referred to by Mr. S. Yoeman. Mrs. Milmine, who had been president of the P.W.M.U., was thanked for her work by Mrs. A. S. Hone. The Rev. Keith snoke on behalf of the Waverley Anglican Parish, and Mr Sutherland, of Patea. referred to the duties of the Patea Presbyterian Church ably carried out by Mr Milmine as Interim Moderator. Mr. T. R. Wall presented the Rev. and Mrs. Milmine with a cheque.

Mr. Milmine suitably replied. He said that during his 6t vears in Waverley he had taken services in eight outlving districts and he honed these would be continued. He was sorry to be leaving and hoped the Waverle> vacancy would soon be filled. Solos were sung during the evenin'-, by Mrs. M. Dallison. Miss M. Grant. Mrs. R. Lennox. Mrs. Sutherland and Mr. S. Yoeman. Supper was served bv the ladies. EUCHRE EVENING. The popular Fire Brigade euchre evening was again well patronised on Tuesday evening. The winners of the euchre were: Ladies. Mrs. Greenwood and Mrs. E. C. Dallison (eoual) 1: men. C. Christensen 1. M. Mickleson 2 The competition was won by Mr.-,. F. Christensen. BOYS’ AND GIRLS' LIFE BRIGADES.

The Boys' and Girls' Lift Brigades met together at a tea and social to farewell their leader, the Rev. Milmine, Mrs. Milmine, Jim, Donald, Malcolm, Colin and Shona. Captain Howie wished the Milmines every success in
