Auckland Mayor Makes Appeal To Miners To Settle Dispute

AUCKLAND, Last Night (PAL—“CoaI owners and miners have a duty to the public to ensure the continuity of supplies,’’ said the Mayor, Sir John Allum .today, in an appeal to the Waikato miners to let common sense prevail and submit their dispute for settlement by the available fadlities. Sir John said that, judging from his advice, the men had taken matters into their own hands, and it now rested with them to end this impasse by making use of these facilities. Sir John said that if there was anything he could do to help bring about a settlement he would gladly do it.
