THE Transport Charges Committee has received the following application from the Commissioner of Transport which affects all tram, omnibus, trolley-bus and cable-car services operated by Auckland Transport Board, New Plymouth, Wanganui, Wellington, Dunedin and Invercargill City Corporations and Christchurch Tramways Board routes as serviced by the above:— “That the existing fares be made minimum charges and that existing fares plus such amount as the Committee deems necessary to offset increases in wages and salaries as a result of the recent order issued by the Arbitration Court become the maximum legal charges.” A public sitting to hear submissions and evidence in relation to the foregoing application will be held in the Education Board Board Room, Abel Smith St., Wellington, commencing at 10 a.m. on Friday, 11th August, 1950.
