UP-RIVER RUGBY MATCH; WIN FOR RANGATAHI TEAM
Playing on a rain-soaked ground last Saturday, Rangatahi defeated Morikait in a ftUgby ttiatdh by 6 points to 0. This result puts Rangatahi on level terms with Ohotu for the Makirikiri Shield, four points each. Rangatahi have yet one more game to play and that is against Pipiriki. This game will be played at Pipiriki next Saturday. The match was played at Jerusalem, and despite the heavy ground, Was played at a fast pace. Both packs of forwards were prominent in dribbling rushes. In one attack Rangcitahi followed up fast with the ball at toe and play surged to the line, where W. Hall dived but missed. Close behind was A. Parker, who shored. The kick failed. This was all the scoring in the first half.
Resuming after half time both sides in turn Used their forwards to advantage. Back play was out o' the question, the conditions being atrocious. Rangatahi were having the edge on their opponents abd were holding Morikau to their Side of half way. Hell led a solid attack and was joined by Parker, who scored his second try. The kick failed and the final score was Rangatahi 6, Morikau 0. Mr. K. Canterb”rv was referee. TAIA CUP.
The first series df football matches for the Tala Cup will be played on Saturday, when Rangatahi will play Pipiriki, at Pipiriki. Ohotu will play Morikau, at Jerusalem
