Cr. R. N. Wilson has been appointed Wanganui City Council representative on the Girls’ College Board of Governors. Mr J. B. Young, Commissioner of Police in New Zealand, will attend the annual conference of the Australian States’ chiefs of police, which will be held toward the end of next November. Captain G. B. Morgan, D. 5.0., D.S.C., master of the Union Co.’s trans-Tasman liner Monowai, will retire in mid-October with more than 40 years’ service. He is the company’s senior master afloat. Mr. Howard Kempton has passed his examination for a cheese factory manager. He has been appointed manager of the Hopelands Dairy Co., Woodville. Sergeant J. Clements, formerly of Wellington, has taken up his new duties at Central Police Station, Wanganui. He succeeds Senior-Sergeant A. Carlyon, transferred to Wellington recently on promotion. Mr. B. H. Goldsmith, engineermanager for the Taranaki Power Board at Eltham last month completed 21 years of service without having missed a day through sicknes or any other like reason. This was announced at a meeting of the board and, in view of Mr. Goldsmith’s impending retirement, members indicated their hopes that his record would remain unbroken. The Rev. F. A. Keay, of All Sainis. Wanganui East, has been appointed chaplain of “Wadhurst,” Melbourne. Wadhurst is the preparatory school for the Church of England Grammar School, one of the leading colleges of Australia. Mr. Keay will relinquish his present charge on September 30 by arrangement with the Bishc. of Wellington, and will proceed to Australia immediately thereafter. Ho will take up his new duties at Wadhurst at the commencement of next year.
