TWO DAIRY FARMS AT WAVERLEY TO BE BALLOTED FOR TODAY

Two dairy farms, one of 85 acres a id the other 76 acres, in the Elslea sub-division at Waverley, will be balloted for in Wanganui this afternoon under the Rehabilitation Department s scheme for the settlement of exservicemen on the land. The farms arc part of the Wyebourne F state. The number of applications for the Iwo sections is not known by the Rehabilitation Department's office in Wanganui as applications were handled by the Commissioner of Lands (Mr. D. A. Paterson), who will attend the ballot. The ballot will be held in the City Council Chambers and is open to the public. Each candidate is given a number which is checked as it is placed in the ballot box by two scrutineers from the public. A member of the gallery is then invited to draw out the lucky marble. Four marbles are drawn out in case those who are successful decide not to take the section, in which case it is offered to the second successful candidate. Among those attending the ballot will he Messrs. C. A. Turnbull (Rehabilitation Office in Wanganui), A. S. Ashmore (Farming sub-Committee) H. N. Shires (Farming sub-Commit-tee and State Advances Department), and C. S. Day (Lands and Survey Department. A ballot for two dairy farms on the Tarapuruhi settlement at Kai Iwi, 143 and 128 acres, and a dairy farm of 94 acres on the old Seafield golf course will be held on June 28.
