For the Wellington Racing Club’s winter meeting, to be held on July 8. 12 and 15, the usual lengthy list of nominations has been received, averaging over 40 for the 24 events and totalling 1115. The 30 horses nominated for the Wellington Steeplechase include such fopnotchers as Brookby Song, Master Meruit, First Act and Jon Rosa. Such events as the Trial Plate on the second day, with 92 entries, and the Novice Handicap on the final day, suggests that the majority of those entered will b e balloted out after acceptances are taken.
